The Texas House of Representatives congratulates Dr. M. D. Morrison Sr. on receiving a 2025 Outstanding Texan Award from the Texas Legislative Black Caucus. Dr. Morrison, a third-generation Baptist pastor, has served as pastor at Greater Mt. Calvary Baptist Church and Philippian's New Faith Missionary Baptist Church. He was the first African American minister deputized by the Victoria County Sheriff's Office. Dr. Morrison also founded the Minister's Coalition of Harris County and Vicinity, which has distributed food and financial aid to communities in need.
