Texas HJR44 proposes a constitutional amendment to limit the time a person may serve as a member of the Texas Legislature or as a statewide elected officer in the executive branch. The amendment would disqualify individuals from being elected to the House of Representatives if they have served during any part of six regular sessions. Similarly, it would disqualify individuals from being elected to the Senate if they have served during any part of six regular sessions. Service before January 1, 2027, does not count towards these limits.
