Proposes a constitutional amendment to allow Texas legislature to limit residence homestead appraised value for tax purposes.
This bill proposes a constitutional amendment to authorize the Texas legislature to limit the maximum appraised value of a residence homestead for ad valorem tax purposes. The limit would be the lesser of the most recent market value or 115 percent, or a greater percentage, of the appraised value for the last year the homestead was appraised. The bill also allows the legislature to limit the frequency of reappraisal and permits county voters to establish a higher limitation. The amendment will be submitted to voters in the November 4, 2025 election.
