La Salle County designated as Texas' Wild Hog Capital for 10 years.
The Texas Legislature designates La Salle County as the official Wild Hog Capital of Texas, recognizing the county's feral hog hunting industry and Wild Hog Cook-Off festivities as sources of pride and economic prosperity. The designation will remain in effect until the 10th anniversary of the date the resolution is passed. The annual Wild Hog Cook-Off, which began in 1981, features live music, entertainment, carnival rides, and vendors, in addition to the wild hog cooking contest.
