Introduced·5/26/25
Introduced Text

Texas commemorates the 190th anniversary of the Battle of San Jacinto, a decisive battle in the Texas Revolution.

The Battle of San Jacinto, which took place on April 21, 1836, was the decisive confrontation of the Texas Revolution. Texans will commemorate this event on April 21, 2026. The battle followed defeats at the Alamo and the Battle of Goliad, leading to the retreat of the Texian army and the flight of Texas President David G. Burnet's provisional government. The Texians and Tejanos, Hispanic supporters of Texas independence, faced a numerically superior Mexican force led by General Antonio López de Santa Anna.
