Texas HCR145 commemorates the dedication of the Jocelyn Nungaray National Wildlife Refuge.
Texas HCR145 commemorates the dedication of the Jocelyn Nungaray National Wildlife Refuge, previously known as the Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge. The refuge, located on the Texas Gulf Coast east of Houston, was renamed in honor of Jocelyn Nungaray, a young girl known for her kindness and love of nature. Jocelyn often brought home stray or injured animals to provide them with a sanctuary. The renaming honors her compassion for all living beings. The 39,000-acre refuge supports a wide variety of wildlife, including birds, mammals, amphibians, and insects.
