HB912 amends the Utilities Code to change how distributed renewable generation owners are compensated in areas outside the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT). Unless the Public Utility Commission approves an alternative, owners who interconnect through a single meter will have their generated electricity offset against their consumption. Any excess generation will be credited to the owner. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
