Texas HB5633 amends the Utilities Code to allow the use of money in the Texas energy fund for grants or loans to operate Texas backup power packages. These packages must be engineered to minimize operation costs, use interconnection technology for immediate islanding and stand-alone operation, and be capable of operating for at least 96 continuous hours without refueling. They must also be designed to aggregate on-site to serve up to eight megawatts of load.
