HB5606

Relating to a sick leave pool for public school employees.

Chamber Passed·5/16/25

Texas HB5606 creates a sick leave pool for retired public school employees.

Texas HB5606 amends the Education Code to establish a sick leave bank for retired school employees. Upon retirement, an employee's accrued sick leave days transfer into this bank, which can be used by any school district or charter school employee who has exhausted their sick leave days. This provision does not override existing policies of school districts or charter schools regarding the distribution of accumulated sick days of retired employees.
