Texas HB5434 mandates consumer reporting agencies to notify consumers when inaccurate information in their files is corrected.
Texas HB5434 amends the Business & Commerce Code to require consumer reporting agencies to ensure that previously reported inaccurate information in a consumer's file is corrected promptly. If a consumer provides an email address, the agency must email the consumer a link to securely obtain a corrected copy of their credit report within 30 business days of the correction. The change applies to corrections submitted after the Act's effective date of September 1, 2025.
