Texas HB5420 provides an annual allotment to school districts for military-connected students in their first year of enrollment.
Texas HB5420 amends the Education Code to create a military transition allotment for school districts. This allotment is equal to the basic allotment multiplied by 0.08 for each eligible student in average daily attendance. Eligibility is limited to military-connected students in their first year of enrollment. Funds from this allotment must be used to maintain a transition program that assists military families with relocation, enrollment, registration, records transfer, academic planning, counseling, and other support services available at a Purple Star Campus.
