Establishes a grant program to support the disposition of deceased paupers' bodies in Texas.
The bill amends the Health and Safety Code to establish a deceased paupers grant program. The Health and Human Services Commission can develop this program to award grants from a dedicated account to counties for costs related to disposing of deceased paupers' bodies and administering body disposition activities. The deceased paupers grant account is funded by legislative appropriations, gifts, grants, and interest on investments. The executive commissioner must adopt rules for the program if it is developed. The act takes effect September 1, 2025.
