Texas HB5312 amends the Education Code to regulate the sale, lease, or use of unused or underused school district facilities.
Texas HB5312 amends the Education Code to establish procedures for the sale, lease, or use of unused or underused school district facilities. The board of trustees must first obtain an appraisal report for the facility dated within 12 months of offering it for sale or lease. For the first 90 days, the board can only accept offers from public school districts, open-enrollment charter schools, or private schools. If no qualifying offers are received, the board may offer the facility to the general public.
