Texas HB5221 amends Section 32.201(c) of the Family Code to restrict emergency shelter or care for minors to 15 days. Shelter or care cannot continue beyond this period unless the facility obtains consent from the minor or the minor is on the waiting list for housing assistance under Chapter 31 of the Human Resources Code. This change applies to any emergency shelter or care provided on or after the effective date of the Act, regardless of when the shelter or care began.
