Texas HB5176 amends the Texas Government Code to establish criteria for placing Texas State Guard members on retired status. The governor or adjutant general may retire members who are physically disabled due to service or have served 20 years in federal or state military. The governor may also advance the service member's grade or rank upon retirement. The commander of the Texas State Guard is required to maintain and preserve individual and unit records of the Texas State Guard and retired members. The Act repeals a previous section and takes effect September 1, 2025.
