This bill mandates that public water systems in unincorporated areas of certain counties must notify fire departments of any water service interruptions that make hydrants temporarily unavailable for fire emergencies. For planned interruptions, notice must be given before the interruption begins. For unplanned interruptions lasting three hours or more, notice must be given within 24 hours of the authority becoming aware of the interruption. The bill also requires the water system to inform fire departments of the resumption of water service within two hours of resumption.
