Texas HB5009 amends the Civil Practice and Remedies Code to modify rules on dormant judgments and the collection of judgments. A judgment becomes dormant if a writ of execution is not issued or a receiver is not appointed within 10 years after the rendition of the judgment. A second writ may be issued or a receiver may be appointed at any time within 10 years after issuance of the first writ or receiver appointment. If a judgment is dormant on the effective date of this Act, it is governed by the law applicable to the judgment immediately before the effective date of this Act.
