Texas HB4781 amends the Family Code to require the Department of Family and Protective Services to consider specific factors when selecting a foster care placement for a child. These factors include whether the placement is the least restrictive setting, the closest in geographic proximity to the child's home, the most able to meet the child's identified needs, satisfies the child's expressed interests when developmentally appropriate, and is able to meet the child's long-term needs, including placement stability. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
