Texas HB4742 allows school districts to request reappraisal of property if the appraisal district fails to do so.
Texas HB4742 amends the Tax Code to allow a school district to request an appraisal of property by the appraisal district if the district does not reappraise property in a tax year. The school district must adopt a resolution to make this request. The appraisal office must complete the reappraisal within 30 days of receiving the resolution and deliver supplemental records to the school district. The school district is responsible for paying the appraisal district for the cost of the reappraisal. This Act takes effect January 1, 2026.
