Texas HB4522 revises the composition of the Texas opioid abatement fund council. The council will now include six regional members from academia or the medical profession, four current or retired health care professionals, two members from hospital districts, a law enforcement member, a member with lived experience in substance use recovery, and a nonvoting member who serves as the presiding officer. The council members are appointed by various state officials and the Health and Human Services Commission. The changes take effect September 1, 2025.
