Amends Texas Family Code to allow hospital employees to take emergency possession of a newborn without a court order.
This bill amends the Texas Family Code to allow designated emergency infant care providers, including hospital employees, to take possession of a child who appears to be 60 days old or younger if the child is voluntarily delivered by the parent and the parent does not express an intent to return. This can occur by leaving the child with an employee or placing the child in a newborn safety device. The change takes effect September 1, 2025.
