Texas HB4261 amends the Occupations Code to allow the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council to establish alternative methods, other than an examination, for evaluating the competency of applicants for baccalaureate or master social worker licenses who have failed the applicable examination two or more times. The council must set a fee for administering these alternative methods. A work group, consisting of individuals with a background in social work, will be established to provide recommendations on these alternative methods. The council must adopt the required rules by January 1, 2026.
