Texas HB4243 allows tenants to request removal of eviction case information from credit reports if they paid owed money and renewed their lease.
Texas HB4243 amends the Property Code to allow residential tenants to request the removal of eviction case information from their credit reports. This applies to tenants who were defendants in an eviction case where a judgment was entered for the plaintiff, but who subsequently paid all money owed, executed a new lease agreement with the landlord, and are not in default under the lease. Upon receiving a written request from a tenant, a consumer reporting agency must remove the eviction case information from the tenant's credit report within 90 days, unless federal law requires otherwise.
