Texas HB4112 amends the Health & Safety Code to prohibit the disposal or storage of high-level radioactive waste in Texas, except at the sites of currently or formerly operating nuclear power reactors and nuclear research and test reactors operated by a university. The bill also restricts the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality from issuing certain permits for facilities involved in the disposal or storage of high-level radioactive waste, except at the specified reactor sites. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
