Texas HB4064 amends the Code of Criminal Procedure to allow medical examiners or justices of the peace to order an autopsy on a deceased individual with a medical history of epilepsy. If the autopsy determines the death was related to epilepsy, the person performing the autopsy may report the information to the North American SUDEP Registry and indicate epilepsy as a cause of death on the individual's death certificate. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
