HB3793

Relating to procedures for a commissioners court to close, abandon, or vacate certain county roads.

Chamber Passed·5/16/25

Texas HB3793 modifies procedures for closing, abandoning, or vacating certain public roads.

Texas HB3793 amends the Transportation Code to change how title to public roads is handled when they are closed, abandoned, or vacated. Title to the road vests in the abutting property owner when the court order is signed. The order must include the name and dimensions of the conveyed property, and be indexed in the county's deed records. If a public utility uses the property for a right-of-way or easement, the order must state that the title is subject to the utility's continued use.
