Allows designated emergency infant care providers to take possession of abandoned children under one year old and terminate parental rights.
This bill amends the Family Code to allow designated emergency infant care providers to take possession of children under one year old without a court order if the child is voluntarily delivered by the parent. This can occur by leaving the child with a provider's employee or placing the child in a safety device within the provider's facilities, provided the parent does not express an intent to return. The parent is considered to have voluntarily relinquished their parental rights. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
