Texas HB3626 amends state benefits and awards for coroners and revises the First Responder Advisory Council.
Texas HB3626 amends the Texas Government Code to revise the composition of the First Responder Advisory Council. The council is now composed of one representative from each of the following sectors: law enforcement, firefighters, and other members determined by the governor. The bill also establishes the Coroners' Star of Texas Award, which is awarded to coroners who are seriously injured or killed in the line of duty, and to the surviving next of kin of those killed. The award is overseen by an advisory committee consisting of three current or retired coroners appointed by the governor.
