The Texas Rare Disease Advisory Council is established to advise the governor, state agencies, and private entities on strategies for improving health outcomes for individuals diagnosed with rare diseases. The council is composed of 23 members appointed by the governor, lieutenant governor, and speaker of the house of representatives. Members include representatives from academic research institutions, physicians, individuals diagnosed with rare diseases, caregivers, and representatives from organizations that provide care or other support to individuals with rare diseases.
