Texas HB3309 regulates the use of automated traffic control systems by local authorities and law enforcement agencies.
Texas HB3309 amends the Transportation Code to allow local authorities and law enforcement agencies to use automated traffic control systems in construction or maintenance work zones. These systems must record vehicle speed and obtain images of the vehicle, license plate, or operator. Local authorities and law enforcement agencies must post signs indicating the use of such systems at least 100 feet from the work zone. Citations for traffic law violations detected by these systems can only be issued by a peace officer at the time of the violation if the required signs are posted.
