Texas HB307 amends the Code of Criminal Procedure to allow defendants convicted of misdemeanors to receive credit for any time spent in jail or prison while awaiting trial or serving a sentence for another offense. The changes apply to defendants who are confined or perform labor to discharge fines or costs on or after the effective date of the Act. The Act also specifies that defendants performing community service can discharge fines or costs at a rate of $150 per eight hours. The changes take effect on September 1, 2025.
