This bill amends the Texas Election Code to require voters presenting a personal identification certificate or driver's license with a "VALID FOR VOTING ONLY WITH VERIFICATION OF ELIGIBILITY" designator to also present proof of U.S. citizenship. If these requirements are not met, the voter may cast a provisional ballot. The bill also updates the Transportation Code to mandate that driver's licenses and personal identification certificates issued after the bill's effective date display this designator if the applicant did not provide proof of U.S. citizenship.
