Texas HB2965 modifies the hotel occupancy tax by exempting hotels provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. It also specifies that certain counties can use hotel occupancy tax revenue for removing trash and litter from state-owned rivers and riverbeds and for maintaining litter containers. Counties wholly within the Edwards Aquifer Authority can allocate 75% of the revenue for tourism and lodging promotion and 25% for environmental cleanup. Counties through which the Frio River flows can use 25% of the revenue for environmental purposes.
