This bill amends the Texas Human Resources Code to expand Medicaid eligibility to individuals who apply for assistance and for whom federal matching funds are available under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. The Health and Human Services Commission must provide medical assistance to these individuals. The executive commissioner must adopt rules regarding the provision of medical assistance. The commission must report annually on the effects of the expanded eligibility, including on the number of uninsured individuals, state and local health care costs, and charity care costs.
