Texas HB2885 amends the Election Code to allow certain counties and municipalities to hold local option elections on the sale of alcoholic beverages. This applies to counties with a population between 70,000 and 100,000, containing a portion of the Colorado River, and adjacent to a county with a population of one million or more. The commissioners court of such a county can order an election on its own motion. Similarly, the governing body of a municipality can order an election by resolution. The act takes effect September 1, 2025.
