This bill amends the Health and Safety Code to modify the criminal penalties for possession of marihuana. It classifies possession of up to two ounces of marihuana as a Class C misdemeanor, up to four ounces as a Class B misdemeanor, up to 10 ounces as a Class A misdemeanor, up to one pound as a state jail felony, up to five pounds as a third-degree felony, and more than five pounds as a first-degree felony. It also changes eligibility for community supervision for certain offenses. The changes apply to offenses committed on or after September 1, 2025.
