Texas HB2839 amends the Education Code to exempt certain military personnel from paying tuition, dues, fees, and other required charges at public institutions of higher education. The exemption applies to nurses and honorably discharged members of the armed forces who served during the Spanish-American War or World War I, as well as those who served during World War II, the Korean War, the Cold War, the Vietnam era, the Grenada and Lebanon era, the Panama era, the Persian Gulf War, the national emergency following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, and any future national emergency.
