Texas HB2829 allows renewal of expired outdoor sign permits up to seven years later under certain conditions.
Texas HB2829 amends the Transportation Code to allow for the renewal of expired outdoor sign permits. A permit holder who did not know about the need to renew can submit all accrued fees, an additional late fee, and an affidavit of ignorance to the Texas Department of Transportation. If these requirements are met, the permit is considered valid as though it never expired, and the permit holder is exempt from penalties for the expired period. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
