This bill amends the Insurance Code to mandate that preauthorization determinations for health care services must be conducted by a physician of the same specialty as the physician or health care provider proposing to provide the service. This requirement applies to requests for preauthorization made on or after January 1, 2026. The bill takes effect on September 1, 2025.
