Exemption from sales and use taxes for certain energy-efficient products for a limited period.
This bill amends the Tax Code to exempt certain energy-efficient products from sales and use taxes. The exempted products include air conditioners priced up to $6,000, clothes washers, ceiling fans, dehumidifiers, dishwashers, lightbulbs, programmable or smart thermostats, refrigerators priced up to $2,000, water heaters, clothes dryers, freezers, stoves, attic fans, and heat pumps. The change in law does not affect tax liability accruing before the effective date of this Act, which is September 1, 2025.
