Texas HB2499 allows certain public school employees to receive salary step credit for five years of experience.
Texas HB2499 amends the Education Code to provide salary step credit for certain public school employees. Classroom teachers, full-time librarians, full-time school counselors, and full-time school nurses with less than five years of experience can receive credit for at least five years of experience if they are employed by the district from which they received their high school diploma and at a district campus in a county with a population of 150,000 or less, within one year of earning a bachelor's, master's, or doctorate degree. This Act applies starting with the 2025-2026 school year.
