Expands the authority of certain peace officers to make warrantless arrests outside their jurisdiction.
This bill amends the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure to allow certain peace officers to arrest without a warrant while outside their jurisdiction if they witness an offense. Specifically, officers described in Article 2A.001(3) or (14) of the Code of Criminal Procedure, who are licensed under Chapter 1701 of the Occupations Code, can make such arrests. However, for traffic violations under Subtitle C, Title 7 of the Transportation Code, the arrest can only occur if the offense happens within the county or counties where the officer's employing municipality or district is located.
