Texas HB2177 amends the Code of Criminal Procedure to allow providers of electronic communications services and remote computing services to disclose electronic customer data to governmental entities if they believe an immediate life-threatening situation exists. This disclosure must be made in good faith and solely to prevent death or serious bodily injury. The changes apply to disclosures made after the effective date of the Act, which is September 1, 2025.
