The bill amends the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure to restrict the use of unsubstantiated misconduct allegations against peace officers who are or will be witnesses in criminal proceedings. Law enforcement agencies cannot disclose misconduct information to state attorneys unless the allegation has been finally adjudicated as sustained. Attorneys representing the state cannot consider unsustained allegations when evaluating a peace officer's credibility.
