The committee, which is a multidisciplinary advisory body within the department, now comprises 25 members. These include 23 members appointed by the commissioner, including two community members with relevant health care experience, one medical examiner or coroner, and various physicians and health care professionals specializing in obstetrics, critical care, emergency care, cardiology, anesthesiology, oncology, and other fields.
