Texas HB2103 mandates mental health leave policies for certain jailers and telecommunicators.
Texas HB2103 requires law enforcement agencies and other state or local agencies that employ jailers or telecommunicators to adopt mental health leave policies. These policies must allow peace officers, jailers, and telecommunicators to take leave without salary deductions if they experience a traumatic event in their employment. The policies must specify the conditions for leave, the number of days available, and the level of anonymity for those taking leave. The policies may also list available mental health services. The act takes effect September 1, 2025.
