Texas HB2087 amends the Teacher Retirement System of Texas to adjust benefits for inflation starting January 1, 2026.
Texas HB2087 amends the Teacher Retirement System of Texas to adjust benefits for inflation. Each year, the board of trustees will set the rate of adjustment for the next calendar year based on the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers. The board will increase the amount of a benefit payable by applying the adjustment rate. The board may not pay a benefit increase unless the retirement system is actuarially sound and has money available. This Act applies to benefits paid on or after January 1, 2026, and takes effect September 1, 2025.
