This bill amends the Texas Government Code to change the deadline for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice to take custody of certain persons confined in a county jail. The department must now take custody within 45 days after all required documents are certified. This change applies to confinements occurring on or after the effective date of the Act, regardless of when the transfer requirements are completed. The Act takes effect on September 1, 2025.
