Texas HB2070 mandates a court order for adding names to the central child abuse or neglect registry.
Texas HB2070 amends the Family Code to require a court of competent jurisdiction to enter a final order in a civil, criminal, or juvenile proceeding finding an individual abused or neglected a child before the Department of Family and Protective Services can add the individual's name to the central registry. This change applies only to findings made on or after the effective date of the Act, which is September 1, 2025. Findings made before the effective date are governed by the law in effect at the time the finding was made.
