This bill amends the Insurance Code to require health benefit plans that cover prescription contraceptive drugs to also cover emergency contraceptive drugs at least once per year without a prescription for each enrollee. The bill defines "emergency contraceptive" as a drug containing an elevated dose of hormones used postcoitally to prevent pregnancy. The coverage requirement applies to health benefit plans delivered, issued for delivery, or renewed on or after January 1, 2026. The bill takes effect September 1, 2025.
